Carice van Houten, known for 'Game of Thrones', returns to cinema in Mees Peijnenburg's Dutch drama 'A Family'. The film, set to premiere at the Berlinale, focuses on a family's dissolution as experienced by 14-year-old Eli and his 17-year-old sister Nina. They grapple with anger, loyalty, and a yearning for stability.
Van Houten expressed a deep connection to the human story, highlighting the universal need for emotional safety. The cast also includes Pieter Embrechts, Celeste Holsheimer, and Finn Vogels. This marks Peijnenburg's second feature, following his acclaimed 'Paradise Drifters'.
The production reunites Peijnenburg with cinematographer Jasper Wolf. 'A Family' is produced by Juliet at Pupkin and The Reunion.
