Amazon MGM Studios has added Frankie Faison, Alex Moffat, and Heidi Gardner to its untitled romantic comedy. The film features Cameron Diaz as a struggling stand-up comic and Stephen Merchant as a workaholic British hotel employee in New York. Merchant also directs and co-wrote the script with John Butler.
The plot centers on Merchant's character needing a wife for appearances, leading him to strike a deal with Diaz's character who desperately needs health insurance. What begins as a transactional arrangement between the two protagonists unexpectedly evolves into a genuine romance.
Filming is currently underway for the project. The new cast members join an already impressive ensemble that includes Rob Lowe, Judith Light, and Jake Lacy.
