Calder Allen, grandson of renowned musicians Terry and Jo Harvey Allen, has chosen to pursue a music career over his initial passion for fly fishing. His latest album, 'Fault Lines,' released last March, reflects on the pivotal choices he has made. One significant decision, dropping out of the University of Montana, inspired the album's title track.
Allen recorded 'Fault Lines' at Arlyn Studios in Austin, collaborating with co-producer and mentor Charlie Sexton. The album features guest appearances from Texas musicians like Jon Randall and Jack Ingram, as well as Martie Maguire of the Chicks. Allen's musical journey has been supported by contemporaries such as Ryan Bingham, who invited him on tour.
Looking ahead, Allen is preparing for more new music, including a multi-generational project titled 'Blood Sucking Maniacs,' featuring five generations of his family. This project is scheduled for release on April 24th, continuing the collaborative spirit embedded in his family's history. Allen is also slated to perform at Stateside, Rolling Stone's first music festival, on July 4th in Kingston, New York.
