Summary
- Byron Allen envisions a new era for late-night TV.
- His shows will prioritize timeless and inclusive humor.
- Political jokes will be replaced with evergreen content.
The late-night landscape on CBS is poised for significant changes following Stephen Colbert's departure. Billionaire comedian and media mogul Byron Allen has outlined his strategy to fill Colbert's vacated weeknight slot with two new programs.
Allen's vision centers on "Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen" and another produced show, "Funny You Should Ask." These programs are slated to feature humor that is evergreen, inclusive, and focused on timeless concepts rather than celebrity gossip or current political events.
Audiences are reportedly tired of politically charged comedy, according to Allen's perspective. He believes there is a demand for a different style of humor, which his network of comics from diverse backgrounds aims to deliver. Allen's pitch to CBS for replacing Colbert reportedly emphasized financial considerations as well.
