Busan Fest Spotlights AI & Global Talent

The Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM), a key platform of the Busan International Film Festival, is showcasing significant growth with its newly launched programs now in their second edition. The InnoAsia initiative, dedicated to advanced technologies and innovative business strategies such as AI and Virtual Production, has already demonstrated success, with projects from its AI works-in-progress showcase securing financing and reaching international markets.

This year's market features DocSquare, focusing on Asian documentaries, and 'The A' conference, exploring Asian film distribution and investment. Thailand is honored as the first 'Country of Honor,' while Japan is the 'Focus Country' for the Producers Hub, recognizing their distinct industry strengths and contributions to international co-production.

ACFM aims to guide the industry through a period of disruption by offering a platform for connection, strengthening, and expansion. Exhibitor numbers have risen by 17% to 339 institutions from 32 countries, with notable growth from Thailand and Japan, as well as increased participation from tech companies and national agencies.

The Korean film industry is showing a rebound, with box office revenue significantly up, though a full structural recovery is still pending. Government support for film production, international co-productions, and AI technology has also seen a substantial increase, aiming to rebuild a robust production base.
