The Burford Dragon Parade, a tradition possibly originating in AD572, has been successfully revived after being absent since the 1970s. The event saw a magnificent 45-meter dragon, constructed by children from Burford Primary School using papier-mache and cloth, parade down the High Street.
Hundreds of residents and visitors gathered on Sunday to witness the spectacle. The day also featured a 'Living History Village' showcasing Anglo-Saxon crafts, a school fete, and musical performances by Burford School.
Organizers stated the tradition's roots lie in a historical march by the King of Mercia. The revival was celebrated by attendees, with hopes that the children's involvement will ensure its continuity for future generations and offer a unique community focus away from typical tourist traffic.
