Bulgari's "Kaleidos: Colors, Cultures and Crafts" exhibition is now open at Shanghai's Power Station of Art. The event presents over 300 exquisite jewelry pieces, fostering a colorful exchange between Italian and Chinese cultural heritages.
The exhibition, which runs until October 31, features a diverse collection. It includes unique high jewelry, archival designs from Bulgari's heritage, and pieces on loan from private collectors. These are juxtaposed with new artistic commissions.
Chinese artists Liang Manqi and Zhang Ding have created immersive installations that reflect Bulgari's fascination with color. Their works translate the brand's chromatic vision into artistic expressions, enhancing the exhibition's dialogue between art and jewelry.
Bulgari's CEO, Laura Burdese, emphasized color as a universal language connecting cultures. She stated the Shanghai exhibition continues this journey through a dialogue with China's rich heritage and artistic spirit. The event aims to showcase color's power to inspire and connect.
The exhibition is structured into three thematic chapters: The Science of Colors, Color Symbolism, and The Power of Light. It offers novel perspectives on Eastern and Western approaches to color, integrating Western color theories with the Chinese five elements system (Wu Xing).
Notable Chinese artists have contributed significantly. Liang Manqi's work expands painting beyond canvases into surrounding spaces, while Zhang Ding's installation uses golden light panels to illuminate gemstone-like glass heads. The opening gala also featured Bulgari's new "Eclettica" high jewelry collection.
