Ancient Buddha Relics Embark on Historic Voyage

Sacred eighth-century relics of Lord Buddha have embarked on a historic journey from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in Vadodara, India, to Colombo, Sri Lanka. The relics were formally sent off by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Tuesday.
The relics, which include a box containing Buddha's ashes and a decorated vessel, will be accessible for public exposition in Colombo from February 4 to February 10. This event will take place at the Gangaramaya Temple.
These significant artifacts were discovered during excavations at Devni Mori, near Shamlaji, and were first identified in 1957. They have been in the possession of Maharaja Sayajirao University since their discovery on January 14, 1962.
