In October 2025, Universal Studios Hollywood is preparing to introduce an exhilarating new addition to its theme park lineup – the "Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift" roller coaster. This high-speed outdoor ride is set to become the park's first-ever coaster of its kind, and it will also be the fastest in the entire Universal Destinations & Experiences portfolio, topping out at a thrilling 72 mph.
The coaster's construction has been underway for months, with the track now looping across several levels of the backlot. Universal has been conducting extended testing, with trains of four ride vehicles being launched and evaluated together. The vehicles, including the iconic Dodge Charger, will be fully concealed during this initial test phase, though a version of the Charger chassis was revealed to media earlier this summer.
When the ride opens in 2026, guests will be able to experience the coaster's groundbreaking 360-degree rotation of the individual ride vehicles as they travel along an impressive 4,100 feet of track – the equivalent of nearly 12 football fields. The elaborate track design incorporates sound reduction technology, ensuring a smooth and immersive experience for thrill-seekers.
Universal Studios Hollywood's Executive Vice President and General Manager, Scott Strobl, expressed his excitement about the new addition, stating that "Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift" will be a "powerful game changer" for the theme park, transforming its topography and infusing a new level of adrenaline into the already dynamic experience.
