Young and the Restless Star Bryton James Divorces Wife After 7-Month Marriage

In a surprising turn of events, Bryton James, the 39-year-old actor known for his role on the long-running soap opera The Young and the Restless, has filed for divorce from his wife Jahaira. The couple had married in March 2025, but their marriage was short-lived, as they separated just three months later in June.

According to the documents reviewed by PEOPLE, James filed for divorce on October 13, 2025, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. The former Family Matters star has also requested that the court terminate the ability to award spousal support and that Jahaira resume using her maiden name.

Prior to their separation, James had shared photos of Jahaira on his social media, highlighting her role as a dancer on Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour. In a since-deleted Instagram post, he had expressed his pride in being a witness to her art and their shared life together.

This is not the first time James has gone through a divorce. He was previously married to Ashley Leisinger, with their marriage lasting just three years before they split in 2014. At the time, James had reflected on the experience, stating that he didn't regret getting married and that he and his ex-wife remained good friends.
