Bruce Campbell Ditches Hollywood for Indie Film

Bruce Campbell, a cult favorite known for his roles in "The Evil Dead," has stepped away from the traditional studio system to create his new independent film, "Ernie & Emma." He not only stars in the movie but also wrote, directed, and produced it. This project was a collaborative effort with his wife and longtime partner, Ida Gearon.

Campbell's decision to pursue an independent route was fueled by a desire for complete creative freedom. He recalled a past negative experience with a studio film that led to creative compromises and a subsequent lack of release. "Ernie & Emma" was filmed entirely in their home state of Oregon, offering Campbell the comfort of working close to home and sleeping in his own bed.

The film itself marks a departure from Campbell's typical genre work. "Ernie & Emma" follows Ernie Tyler, a widower who embarks on a road trip through Oregon after his wife's passing, carrying out her final wishes. This journey becomes a path through grief and the potential for new beginnings. Campbell is currently touring the country with "Ernie & Emma," offering screenings at independent theaters following successful initial showings.
