Filmmakers Carol and Marina Rodríguez Colás are set to release their latest work, "Bros," following the success of their acclaimed film "Girlfriends." This new dramedy centers on three 15-year-old boys from the outskirts of Barcelona. Their diverse backgrounds, including Moroccan, Dominican, and Andalusian heritage, unite them in a shared reality shaped by their neighborhood's embrace and perceived limitations.
The narrative follows Ayman, Eric, and Rober as their friendship is tested when Ayman encounters Sara, the daughter of a wealthy family. An invitation to a party in an affluent area offers them a glimpse into a world beyond their own, fueling their aspirations. This journey allows the film to explore adolescence and the pervasive impact of social barriers, classism, and racism on relationships today.
"Bros" is noted for its commitment to authenticity, featuring debut actors born in Catalonia from immigrant families. This approach reinforces the story's emotional power, presenting friendship as a source of refuge and a driving force against societal inequalities. The film promises a fresh, lively, and relatable portrayal of youth, capturing characters that audiences will easily connect with.
Filmax will present initial footage of "Bros" at the Spanish Screenings during the Málaga Film Festival. The film is produced by Fasten Films and Cobalt Films, with additional co-production from Saga Film (Belgium) and Marth Films (Mexico). It received support from various European and Spanish cultural programs, including ICAA, ICEC, Creative Europe Media, and the Ibermedia Program.
