Brooke Shields is commemorating the 30th anniversary of her popular NBC sitcom, 'Suddenly Susan,' which originally aired from 1996 to 2000. The actress shared a nostalgic tribute on Instagram, marking three decades since the show first appeared on screens.

The series featured Shields as Susan Keane, a San Francisco journalist who navigates life after breaking off an engagement and finding a new role at The Gate magazine. Her performance garnered two Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress in a Television Series -- Musical or Comedy.

Shields recently revealed on The Bossticks podcast that a guest appearance on 'Friends' in 1994 was pivotal in making 'Suddenly Susan' a reality. Her uninhibited portrayal of a character licking Joey Tribbiani's fingers, initially considered too eccentric, ultimately changed perceptions of her comedic abilities.

This 'shock' moment, where a figure known for her pristine image engaged in such a quirky act, reportedly opened doors for her own television show and allowed her to showcase her comedic talents. The show also starred Judd Nelson, Kathy Griffin, Néstor Carbonell, and the late David Strickland.

Reflecting on the series, Shields noted the profound difficulty in continuing 'Suddenly Susan' after the tragic death of David Strickland at age 29 during the filming of season 3. The show faced further challenges in its fourth season with the departure of stars Judd Nelson and Andrea Bendewald, alongside showrunners Gary Dontzig and Steven Peterman.

Despite significant cast and crew changes, a less favorable time slot, and a new writing staff, 'Suddenly Susan' concluded its run. The final episodes aired in the early morning hours of December 26, 2000. Nevertheless, Shields described the show as a "revelation" and a "very special" part of her career.
