Broadway Star Juggles 'Wicked' Sequel Promo and New Play About WWII Hero

In the lead-up to the November 21st release of the highly anticipated 'Wicked: For Good,' the Broadway actor who plays Boq in the screen adaptation is preparing to embark on a global publicity tour. However, during his time away from the Land of Oz, the Tony-nominated performer has also been workshopping a new play about the legendary mime Marcel Marceau.

Titled "Marcel on the Train," the Off-Broadway production is set to debut in early 2026 and will explore Marceau's little-known role in the French Resistance, where he saved Jewish children from the Nazis by smuggling them to safety. In addition to co-writing the play, Slater will star as the famous mime, combining his passions for physical comedy and humanitarian causes.

Despite his busy schedule, the actor remains excited about the 'Wicked' sequel, particularly the new songs composed by Stephen Schwartz. Slater calls one of the new tunes his "favorite song" and is eager for audiences to experience the deeper exploration of his character Boq and his relationship with Nessarose. With a unique blend of film and theater work, Slater continues to captivate audiences on both the big and small stages.
