Britney's Ex Questions DUI Narrative: Facts Over Headlines
6 Mar
Summary
- Ex-husband suggests Britney's blood alcohol content was below legal limits.
- He argues legally prescribed medications could alter the DUI narrative.
- Britney Spears deserves facts, fairness, and due process.

Jason Alexander, who was briefly married to Britney Spears in 2004, has urged a slowdown in public discussion surrounding her recent legal issues. He noted that if reports are accurate about her blood alcohol content being .06, it is below the legal limit in most states. Alexander suggested that the presence of only legally prescribed medications could significantly alter the perception of the event.
He further posited that the situation could amount to minor misdemeanor charges like reckless driving or simple possession. Alexander, a childhood friend who married Spears in Las Vegas, cautioned against the rapid spread of rumors over facts, stating that Spears deserves due process.
Us Weekly confirmed Spears was arrested for driving under the influence near her home in Ventura County, California. She was taken into custody on Wednesday, March 4, at 9:28 p.m. and released on Thursday, March 5, at 6:07 a.m. Dispatch audio indicated her vehicle was seen driving erratically with no taillight. Chemical test results are pending, and the incident remains under investigation. Spears is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, May 4.
Spears' representative stated it was an "unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable." The representative added that Spears would "take the right steps and comply with the law," hoping it would be the first step towards needed change. The statement expressed hope that she would receive the necessary help and support during this difficult period, with her sons scheduled to spend time with her.
