15 Oct

Summary

Ice rink will not be at Royal Pavilion Gardens in 2026.
New location planned for Old Steine starting in 2027.
Damage from previous rinks scarred landscape, causing risk.

The Royal Pavilion Gardens in Brighton will not host the annual ice rink at the end of 2026. City council confirmed the decision following concerns about the impact of the rink on the gardens. Restoration work on the site makes the previous location unsuitable for this year.

The ice rink will be relocated to the Old Steine, with plans to reopen in 2027. Organizers expressed excitement about the new central location. Previously, damage from the rink had scarred the landscape, contributing to the gardens' inclusion on the Heritage At Risk register.
