Brian May, the iconic guitarist of Queen, has declared that the band will not embark on further tours. Citing a desire to spend more time with his wife, grandchildren, and pursue his passion for astrophysics, May, aged 79, stated that 50 years of touring was sufficient. He revealed this decision in an interview on Friday, October 2nd.
Despite his resolve against touring, May is exploring innovative ways to present Queen's music to audiences. He expressed interest in creating an immersive experience, drawing inspiration from ABBA's virtual concert series. May visited the Sphere venue, which sparked ideas for a potential Queen show. However, he also articulated significant reservations about the reliance on AI technology for such productions, identifying data centers as a major concern.
Queen's most recent world tour, featuring Adam Lambert as lead singer, concluded in February 2024. May has also faced personal health challenges, including a minor stroke and temporary loss of movement in his left arm in 2022. He has since focused on maintaining his health through regular exercise and swimming. In May 2025, May made a guest appearance at Coachella, joining Benson Boone to perform Queen's hit "Bohemian Rhapsody."
