Breakout Star Leads New Series After Blockbuster Success

In the upcoming series "Genuine Fraud," a social chameleon named Spencer reinvents herself as the best friend of a wealthy heiress, only to take over the heiress's life when she goes missing. This gripping thriller is led by the actress who had a breakout role in the recent hit show "The Summer I Turned Pretty."

The series is being produced by Daly, Spencer, and Lockhart, with Patrick Moran and Lynley Bird of PKM Production also serving as executive producers. Daly, who created and is showrunning the Netflix animated series adaptation of the Twilight saga, will be the showrunner for "Genuine Fraud."

The actress, who played the role of Belly's best friend Taylor in "The Summer I Turned Pretty," has become the first star from that show to headline a new series following its blockbuster success. The love story between her character Taylor and Steven, played by Sean Kaufman, gained a devoted fan following during the Belly love triangle frenzy.

While it's unclear if the actress will return for the recently announced "The Summer I Turned Pretty" follow-up movie, her upcoming projects include the debut film "Big Girls Don't Cry" from New Zealand-based musician Paloma Schneideman, as well as a follow-up to the award-winning "Good Girl Jane."
