25 Feb
Summary
- Bradford receives an additional £1m for cultural accessibility.
- The funding will make the Loading Bay venue permanent.
- Investment will also support The Peace Museum's expansion.

Bradford has secured an additional £1 million in government funding to ensure its cultural scene remains accessible and affordable. This investment is designed to create a lasting legacy following the city's successful tenure as UK City of Culture 2025.
The funding will primarily support two significant cultural projects within the city. Firstly, the Loading Bay, a former warehouse transformed into a vibrant mid-scale venue, will be made permanent. This space will continue to serve as a city centre hub for art, theatre, and performances.
Secondly, The Peace Museum, which relocated to Salts Mill in August 2024, will receive crucial investment. This funding will safeguard its unique collection and increase its capacity to welcome visitors, celebrating the history of peace movements.
Culture minister Ian Murray emphasized the importance of cultural investment for local economies and community pride. The initiatives aim to build on the success of the City of Culture year, which saw a high participation rate in free events.
