Kripke defends Vought Rising links in The Boys

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke has defended the inclusion of elements hinting at the upcoming Vought Rising spinoff, asserting these were not driven by "craven commercialism." He explained that the integration of characters like Soldier Boy and Bombshell into the current season was a natural evolution of the storyline, particularly concerning the "V-One" McGuffin. The creative process focused on providing a fitting send-off for the main series characters.

Vought Rising, announced in 2024, is set to delve into the origins of iconic villains in the 1950s. Kripke highlighted that the decision to feature existing characters like Bombshell was a collaborative effort, aiming to enrich the shared universe. The Boys is currently airing its fifth and final season, with its concluding episode scheduled for next week, May 20. Vought Rising is anticipated to premiere in early 2027.
