Cast members from the beloved "Boy Meets World" franchise have revealed difficult behind-the-scenes experiences during the filming of its sequel, "Girl Meets World." The documentary "Doc Meets World" features stars Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong discussing their return to the universe years after the original series concluded.
Producer Frank Pace recounted instances where creator Michael Jacobs was challenging to work with, specifically detailing a "never to be forgotten table read" for "Girl Meets World." Pace alleged that Jacobs harshly criticized the young cast members, stating they did not uphold the "Boy Meets World" tradition, which reportedly led to Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter crying.
Rider Strong, who directed 18 episodes of the spinoff, described the directing experience positively, calling it "so much fun." He felt it offered a chance to revisit his own childhood. However, Strong also conveyed a need to distance himself from Michael Jacobs, stating he "needed to cut him out of my life" due to unacceptable behavior.
Danielle Fishel also shared her perspective, explaining her early desire for "Girl Meets World" to focus on female friendships rather than relationships, a sentiment she conveyed to Jacobs. Despite her advocacy, the pilot episode reportedly featured the lead character stumbling into a boy's lap, a direction Fishel found problematic. She eventually became vocal and confronted Jacobs about her concerns, which she stated "did not go over well."
