Producer Nidhi Dutta explained that Tabu, who previously played Sunny Deol's wife, is not part of Border 2. This is because Sunny Deol embodies a different character than Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri from the 1997 film, necessitating a different wife character.
Reports indicate that Sunny Deol is the highest-paid actor in Border 2, allegedly earning ₹50 crores for his role. This surpasses his reported salary of ₹1.2 crore for the original Border. Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh also received substantial payments, with Dhawan reportedly earning ₹8-10 crore and Dosanjh ₹4-5 crore.
During a promotional event, Sunny Deol became emotional, recalling his late father Dharmendra and stating that Dharmendra's film Haqeeqat was the inspiration for him to do Border.
