31 Jul
Summary
- The planned HBO series for Booster Gold will not proceed.
- The show's creator cited irreconcilable differences.
- This follows similar news regarding Marvel's Blade reboot.
The anticipated HBO series based on the DC character Booster Gold has been officially cancelled. David Jenkins, known for 'Our Flag Means Death,' confirmed on Threads that his 'Booster Gold' project "won't be moving forward." This news comes a year after reports surfaced that Jenkins was attached to write the pilot and show-run the series.
Jenkins's announcement aligns with a sentiment recently expressed by actor Mahershala Ali regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Blade reboot. Ali indicated that the project was not progressing due to a lack of commitment from the studio. Jenkins directly referenced Ali's statement, applying it to the cancellation of the Booster Gold series, suggesting the decision was out of his control.
Booster Gold, originally created by Dan Jurgens, centers on Michael Jon Carter, a former athlete who becomes a superhero obsessed with fame and wealth. The character has been a part of the Justice League, and his nickname was famously bestowed by Ronald Reagan.
