Booker Prize Foundation Unveils Children's Booker Prize

The Booker Prize Foundation, known for its prestigious literary awards, is expanding its reach to a younger audience. Like its sister prizes, the new children's award will come with a 50,000 GBP ($67,000) purse. The prize will open for submissions early next year, and the inaugural award will be handed out in 2027. The winner will be selected by a jury composed of both children and adults.
Gaby Wood, the chief executive of the Booker Prize Foundation, stated that the new prize is aimed at encouraging more young people to read and become lifelong readers. "We hope this will be a seed from which future generations of avid readers will grow," she said.
