Bon Iver's first archival release, "VOLUMES: ONE," offers a new perspective on the band's recent work. This installment spotlights communal and inspired live renditions of songs from 2019-2023.
The archival series, modeled after Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series, aims to showcase the malleability of Bon Iver's songs. These live versions expand upon the band's post-2019 material, which often features looping sequences and studio improvisation artifacts.
The performances highlight accompanists like Jenn Wasner and S. Carey. Wasner's guitar work and Carey's drumming, in particular, amplify the songs, transforming textures into insistent, propulsive elements. The pristine recordings capture this heightened energy.
