- Cameos range from voiceovers, song performances to biopic appearances

As of November 2025, the trend of cameos in Bollywood's highest-grossing films has become increasingly prevalent. A recent analysis shows that 41 out of the 132 Hindi movies that have crossed the ₹100 crore mark at the box office have featured at least one prominent star in a minor role.
These cameos have taken various forms, from voiceovers and song performances to blink-and-miss appearances and even biopic roles. For instance, Jackie Shroff's voice was featured on a GPS machine in the comedy film Total Dhamaal, while Kareena Kapoor Khan was shown playfully altering her voice to tease Salman Khan in Bodyguard.
Many of these cameos have been centered around songs, with stars like Sonakshi Sinha, Katrina Kaif, and Jacqueline Fernandez making special appearances to perform hit numbers. Kareena Kapoor Khan even had two such cameos in a single year, enacting songs in Rowdy Rathore and Dabangg 2.
The cameo trend has also extended to biopics, with Sanjay Dutt making a special appearance in the Sanjay Dutt biopic Sanju, and Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan celebrating their revived friendship with cameos in each other's films, Tubelight and Jawan.
Interestingly, the Rohit Shetty Cop Universe and the YRF Spy Universe have seen several cross-over cameos, with stars like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and Hrithik Roshan making appearances in each other's films. The trend shows no signs of slowing down, as Bollywood continues to embrace the surprise element that these cameos bring to the big screen.
