According to a statement from the British High Commission, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that three major productions from India's leading film studio, Yash Raj Films (YRF), will be shot across locations in the United Kingdom starting in 2026. The announcement follows a recent trade deal signed between India and the UK. During his visit to the YRF studio in Mumbai on Wednesday, PM Starmer met with actor Rani Mukerji and YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani. Widhani expressed his delight at reigniting YRF's filming ties with the UK, noting that the country has always been "extremely kind" to the studio and has "empowered them to excel creatively."
The UK's infrastructure, technology, and talent were cited as key factors behind YRF's decision to return to filming in the country. The partnership is particularly significant as it coincides with the 30th anniversary of the iconic Bollywood film "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (DDLJ), which was partly shot in the UK.
