South West Musicians: Your Festival Break Awaits!

Musicians in south-west England are being offered a significant opportunity to launch their careers at the upcoming Boardmasters Festival. This major summer event, taking place in Newquay, Cornwall, from August 5th to 9th, has introduced a new talent search called Boardmasters Breakthrough. The competition welcomes vocalists, bands, DJs, and artists across any genre and age group. Organizers aim to highlight local talent by providing a platform on a large stage before thousands of festival-goers.

The aspiring artist or group selected as the winner, to be announced on May 25th, will secure a paid opening performance on the main stage on August 9th. This prize package also includes full weekend festival access for the winner and a guest, along with professionally filmed footage of their set. Additionally, the winning act will gain entry to the artist area and receive promotional features across Clunk magazine's Instagram and Boardmasters' social media channels. BBC Introducing South West presenter Daniel Pascoe expressed excitement about the initiative, drawing parallels to the career trajectory of artists like Sam Fender.

To be eligible for this competition, all entrants must reside in or be based within the South West region of England, as the contest is exclusively for local talent. The festival, which is set to feature performances from artists such as Lily Allen, Fatboy Slim, Kasabian, The Kooks, and Loyle Carner, is actively seeking to discover and promote emerging musicians from the area. All submissions will be reviewed by the festival team, with a shortlist compiled before the final decision is made by BBC Introducing.
