Bluegrass Legends Greensky Bluegrass Celebrate 25 Years with Star-Studded Album

As the calendar turns to October 2025, the bluegrass-Americana powerhouse group Greensky Bluegrass is marking a major milestone – its 25th anniversary. The band, which first formed during an impromptu house party performance on Halloween night in 2000 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, has since evolved into a musical force, headlining major festivals and selling out venues across the country.

To commemorate this silver anniversary, Greensky Bluegrass is releasing a new album titled "XXV" on October 31, 2025. The album features reimagined versions of the band's most well-loved songs, as well as a few live-show favorites making their recorded debut. But the real highlight is the impressive roster of collaborators Greensky Bluegrass has assembled, including bluegrass legend Sam Bush, singer-songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff, and fellow Michigan native Billy Strings.

Dobroist Anders Beck explains that the collaborations were born out of the band's close-knit relationships with these artists, rather than a calculated effort to land "big, important guests." The result is an album that feels like a "family photo album," capturing the musical friendships that have sustained Greensky Bluegrass over the past 25 years.

As the band continues to push the boundaries of traditional bluegrass, their commitment to improvisation and risk-taking has earned them a devoted and eclectic fanbase. With plans to head back into the studio early next year, it's clear that Greensky Bluegrass has no intention of slowing down as they embark on the next chapter of their quarter-century musical journey.
