Summary
- Former director revealed Blade was set in the 1920s.
- Oscar-winning designer Ruth Carter created costumes for Blade.
- Mahershala Ali will star in a new action movie Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Blade movie, initially announced in 2019 with Mahershala Ali in the lead role, is no longer proceeding as planned. Director Bassam Tariq, who departed the project in 2023, recently shared insights into the film's development. Tariq spent a year and a half preparing for production, which was underway in Atlanta.
During its development, the Blade film was intended to include a storyline set in the 1920s. Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth Carter, known for her work on "Black Panther," had created costumes for the film, with some unused designs later appearing in "The Sinners." Actor Delroy Lindo was also cast, alongside Mia Goth and Aaron Pierre.
After Tariq's departure, the project underwent several script rewrites and director changes, ultimately failing to move forward. Mahershala Ali confirmed in July that the film would not be made. However, the collaboration between Ali and Tariq on the unproduced Blade movie led to their teaming up for "Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother," an action film set for release on October 5, 2026. This new film will allow Ali to showcase sword-fighting techniques he had prepared for Blade.
