Crowes Craft 10th Album in Two Weeks

The Black Crowes brothers, Chris and Rich Robinson, have shared insights into the rapid creation of their 10th studio album, "A Pound of Feathers." Recorded in Nashville over fewer than two weeks with producer Jay Joyce and drummer Cully Symington, the album embodies a philosophy of instinctual creation. The Robinsons deliberately embraced a spontaneous approach, eschewing pre-written lyrics and melodies to foster a more raw and funky sound.

This extemporaneous method, a departure from the more conventional recording of their previous album "Happiness Bastards," allowed ideas to flow freely. The brothers describe tapping into the heart rather than the brain, resulting in an album that captures immediacy. Unexpected elements, such as a tree frog's croak incorporated into a track, highlight the record's spontaneous spirit. "A Pound of Feathers" promises to deliver the Black Crowes' signature blend of gritty rock with compelling sonic dynamics.

The band, recently nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the second consecutive year, is set to embark on a global tour. The tour, beginning in Australia and Tokyo, will extend to North America and Europe. The live performances will feature new songs from "A Pound of Feathers" alongside beloved classics and potential covers, demonstrating the enduring appeal and cohesive sound of the Black Crowes' extensive catalog. Fans can expect to see a blend of familiar faces and a new bassist for the tour.
