B.J. Novak: The 'Best Gift' for Mindy Kaling's Kids

B.J. Novak shared that the best gift he's given his godchildren is a stuffed animal of the Duolingo bear character Fofo. Novak, 46, is the godfather to Mindy Kaling's three children: daughters Katherine, 8, and Anne, 2, and son Spencer, 5.

Host Andy Cohen complimented Novak's active presence in the children's lives. Kaling, 46, has never publicly identified the father of her children, which has fueled fan speculation. She addressed these rumors in a 2022 interview, stating that her close friendship with Novak is unaffected.

Kaling, who is a single mother by choice, once described Novak as an "integral part" of her family. Novak also spoke at Kaling's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in February 2025, commending her as a "brilliant" and "incredible mother of three."

Kaling announced her first pregnancy in 2017, with Kit born later that year. She welcomed Spencer in September 2020 and Anne in February 2024. Reflecting on motherhood in February 2024, Kaling described it as rewarding but also acknowledged the immense responsibility as the sole provider for her children.
