Secrets Erupt at Lavish Island Birthday Bash

Quiver Distribution has acquired the North American distribution rights for "The Birthday Party," a film adapted from Panos Karnezis's novel and directed by Miguel Angel Jimenez. The ensemble cast features Willem Dafoe, Vic Carmen Sonne, and Joe Cole.

The film, a co-production involving Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, and the UK, was entirely filmed in Greece. It originally premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and is slated for a wide release on June 5, 2026.

Set in the late 1970s on a private Mediterranean island, the narrative centers on an extravagant birthday party thrown by Marcos Timoleon for his daughter, Sofia. The celebration becomes a nexus for hidden agendas and personal conflicts.

As guests arrive and night falls, the decadent atmosphere amplifies the inevitable confrontation between Marcos and Sofia. The film explores themes of control, family dynamics, and unexpected revelations.
