Birmingham's Gas Hall is set to host "I photograph comedians!", a compelling exhibition running from February 18 to May 31. This showcase presents 80 striking studio portraits captured by renowned British photographer Andy Hollingsworth, highlighting many celebrated comedians from the West Midlands region.
The exhibition proudly features photographs of Birmingham natives Jasper Carrott, Jo Enright, Shazia Mirza, and Joe Lycett, alongside Stewart Lee from Wellington and Sir Lenny Henry, who hails from Dudley. These visual tributes capture the essence of influential figures in British comedy.
Adding a unique dimension, the exhibition includes significant memorabilia such as Sir Lenny Henry's 1984 tour jacket, a signed pair of Rik Mayall's underpants, and Joe Lycett's distinctive Late Night Lycett teddy suit. A program of related events will further explore the rich world of comedy and laughter.
