Actor Bimal Oberoi recently unveiled his new spoken word song, 'Firdaus,' a creative endeavor deeply influenced by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The inspiration struck Oberoi while he was on location in Vienna, filming his supporting role in 'Tiger 3.' Witnessing the immense crowd reaction to Khan from the sidelines, a scene of thousands chanting the star's name, triggered the song's concept.
This pivotal moment in Vienna, Oberoi stated, was the spark. He began writing 'Firdaus' with Khan in mind, inspired by the overwhelming devotion displayed by fans. The song's foundation, however, was laid years earlier by a simple, repeated phrase from a friend: 'Sheher ki kaun si woh Firdaus hai' – a question about true paradise within a bustling city.
Upon presenting the lyrics to collaborator and composer Prasad S, Oberoi and his team decided against a melodic rendition. Given Oberoi's self-admitted lack of singing ability, they opted for a pure recitation, reminiscent of classic poetic performances. Prasad S then crafted a modern, trendy musical backdrop to complement Oberoi's heartfelt words.
For the song's visual representation, Oberoi enlisted theatre friends, including Dilnaz Irani and Priyanka Charan, to portray a humorous, self-aware 'roadside Romeo' character. This approach added a layer of lightheartedness to the project, reflecting a character who takes himself seriously amidst a less so world.
