- Corgan recalled Kanye working nearby during 'Mellon Collie' recording.
- Kanye West recently apologized for antisemitic comments.
Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan is contemplating whether he may have influenced Kanye West's controversial public persona. Corgan shared a reflection during a recent podcast appearance, suggesting that West's penchant for provoking reactions might echo his own methods.
Corgan recounted seeing West working at a nearby Gap store during the recording of 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.' He questioned if his own approach to generating attention, which he termed a 'cognitive dissonance game,' was something West adopted.
This discussion arises following West's public apology in January for antisemitic comments he made, which began in 2022 and included praising Adolf Hitler. The apology was published as a full-page open letter.
