The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, honoring Bill Maher, is scheduled to be broadcast on Netflix on July 21. This prestigious comedy award ceremony will be held on June 28 at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. The announcement of Maher as the recipient was met with skepticism from some political circles, with initial reports being labeled as 'fake news.'
The Kennedy Center itself has been involved in separate controversies, including a legal battle over the addition of President Trump's name to its title, which a judge later overturned. Plans for a two-year renovation closure of the center were also blocked by a judicial ruling. Currently, the center remains open, though bookings are paused.
