Hip-hop veteran Big Daddy Kane has announced his final album, titled 'Curtain Call,' slated for release in September. This marks his first full-length project in nearly three decades, with the last being 'Veteranz Days' in 1998. The announcement was made on June 18 to his one million Instagram followers.
Kane revealed that LL COOL J's 2024 solo album, 'The F.O.R.C.E.,' was a significant catalyst for his return to recording. After hearing LL COOL J's work and receiving encouragement from Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip, Kane felt the renewed urgency to create.
The 10-track project, 'Curtain Call,' will feature collaborations with a diverse range of artists, including his son Tasheem Hardy, Conway The Machine, Busta Rhymes, Anthony Hamilton, and Jadakiss. King Yohannes, a producer from Charlotte, North Carolina, is primarily responsible for the album's beats.
Kane emphasized the importance of nurturing the next generation and supporting new artists, reflecting a desire for lyricism to regain prominence in hip-hop. The album's themes focus on mature subjects relevant to adults, moving beyond typical club or drug-related narratives, as exemplified by tracks like 'Manifest' and 'It's Your Time,' which features his son.
Upon its release, Kane plans to undertake a series of select tour dates. These events will incorporate sophisticated elements like wine tastings, aligning with the album's mature themes. Despite his love for touring, Kane prioritizes spending time with his 13-year-old son.
