Filming the memorable 'Khaike Paan Banaras Wala' song for the movie Don presented significant physical challenges for veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan. The demanding shoot, spanning four days, involved approximately 50 shots, each requiring multiple retakes. This repetitive action led to considerable discomfort for Bachchan.
Bachchan disclosed that the constant chewing of paan, a mixture containing katha and chuna, caused painful burns within his mouth. He recalled director's instructions to maintain consistent lip redness across takes, necessitating further consumption of the paan. This ordeal left his mouth sore and required extensive recovery time.
Despite the month-long healing process needed to recover from the burns, Amitabh Bachchan reflected positively on the experience of shooting the song. The challenging but ultimately rewarding process contributed to creating one of Bollywood's most iconic musical numbers.
