The city of Bhubaneswar is preparing for a magnificent Gajalaxmi Puja, highlighted by an impressive 80-foot idol of Goddess Laxmi situated in Patia. This structure is anticipated to be the tallest in the capital during the current festive season. The seven-day celebration is scheduled to commence on Sunday and will extend until October 31.
The event, organized by the North Bhubaneswar Gajalaxmi Puja Committee at the Club Town ground in Patia, marks the committee's first year hosting the puja. They have engaged approximately 30 artisans from Jajpur to construct the idol and pandal over the past month. Attendees can look forward to a variety of attractions, including food stalls and a Meena Bazaar, alongside the darshan of the deity.
This initiative aims to provide residents with a grand Gajalaxmi Puja experience within Bhubaneswar, reducing the need for travel to other districts. The festival will feature cultural evenings with performances by popular Odia film singers, musicians, and dancers. The idol's immersion is planned for October 31, with a procession expected to draw a large crowd.
