The horror-comedy 'Bhooth Bangla,' reuniting director Priyadarshan and actor Akshay Kumar, is rapidly approaching the Rs. 100 crore domestic gross mark. As of the end of its first week, the film has achieved a worldwide gross of Rs. 127.37 crore, with Rs. 94.01 crore coming from India. Paid previews on Day 0 earned Rs. 3.75 crore, followed by Rs. 12.25 crore on Day 1. Weekend collections saw a significant jump, with Day 2 bringing in Rs. 19.00 crore and Day 3 peaking at Rs. 23.00 crore.
The film's momentum experienced a dip on Day 4 with Rs. 6.75 crore net, attributed to IPL competition affecting evening shows. However, it showed encouraging recovery, earning Rs. 8.00 crore net on Day 5 and Rs. 6.15 crore net on Day 6, maintaining its weekly progress. These figures brought the first-week cumulative India net to Rs. 79.02 crore.
'Bhooth Bangla' is a supernatural comedy-thriller centered on Arjun Acharya, who returns to his ancestral home and discovers it's haunted by a demonic entity.
