Summary
- He inspired Bollywood legends with his unique dance moves.
- Albela's success made him a millionaire, owning a bungalow and cars.
- Financial ruin and personal issues led to his eventual poverty.

Bhagwan Dada, a significant figure in early Hindi cinema known for his distinctive dance style, profoundly influenced future generations of actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda, and Mithun Chakraborty. His journey began modestly as a mill worker's son, yet he rose to stardom in the 1930s.
The 1951 film "Albela," co-produced with encouragement from Raj Kapoor, marked his breakthrough, achieving remarkable success and becoming a cultural touchstone with its popular songs. This triumph transformed Bhagwan Dada into a "lakhpati," affording him a 25-room Juhu residence, his own studio, and seven imported cars.
Tragically, his fortunes reversed after "Albela." Despite efforts with films like "Jhamela," a combination of failed projects, personal vices, and betrayals led to his downfall. He lost his vast wealth and was forced to sell his assets, eventually residing in a Dadar chawl.
In his later years, Bhagwan Dada accepted minor roles to sustain himself, though organizations like CINTAA and IMPAA eventually provided him with support. He passed away in 2002, an era away from his former glory, leaving behind a legacy remembered through his enduring impact on dance and a Marathi film, "Ekk Albela," released in 2016.
