A dedicated weaver from Secunderabad is upholding a sacred family tradition for the fifth consecutive year by providing handwoven silk garments for the celestial wedding of Lord Rama and Sita Devi. This ritualistic offering, celebrated during Sri Rama Navami at the Bhadrachalam temple, has been a practice of his family for three generations, spanning over a century.
The artisan, SS Jayaraju, has been working diligently with his team on a special weaving machine set up at the temple premises. They have completed the intricate weaving of Pochampally silk garments intended for the deities. These exquisite silk creations include two sarees for Sita Devi and six pairs of angavastram and panche for Lord Rama, Lord Lakshmana, and Lord Hanuman.
The divine attire, which represents an investment of approximately Rs 2 lakh, will be presented to the temple authorities before the auspicious wedding ceremony. The deities are scheduled to be adorned in these specially crafted silk garments on Thursday and Friday, coinciding with the Sri Rama Navami celebrations. Jayaraju has expressed his commitment to continuing this cherished legacy for as long as he lives and passing it on to future generations.
