International sales house LevelK has secured global rights for the pre-school animated feature and series, 'Betty Balloon.' This Danish co-production is set to be released theatrically in Denmark in October, with TV2 premiering the series.
The narrative follows the Balloon family, who welcome cactus neighbors. Young Betty Balloon and Kaj Cactus form a friendship, demonstrating how curiosity and openness can overcome differences. Director Puk Grasten emphasized that the film celebrates imagination and emotional honesty.
Producer Regner Grasten noted the unique dynamic promotes empathy, contrasting with shows like 'Peppa Pig.' LevelK CEO Tine Klint added that teaching through entertainment is key, with the characters navigating challenges creatively.
Beyond the film and series, development is underway for 'Betty Balloon' books and merchandise, expanding this hopeful intellectual property.
