ITV has released a first look at its forthcoming espionage thriller, 'Betrayal,' scheduled for release in 2026. The series stars Shaun Evans as John Hughes, a mid-career MI5 officer attempting to maintain his personal life amidst a rapidly changing intelligence environment. When an encounter with an informant leads to an unexpected turn, Hughes faces an internal investigation.
Hughes's personal life becomes entangled with his professional duties as he tries to save his marriage while pursuing the case. He finds an ally in intelligence operative Mehreen Askari-Evans. As Hughes grows convinced of Iranian regime involvement, he also suspects enemies are closer to home.
The ensemble cast includes Romola Garai and Zahra Ahmadi, alongside a host of familiar actors. Directed by Julian Jarrold and produced by Mammoth Screen, the series aims to deliver compelling drama with intrigue and emotional depth.
