Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Hollywood has officially earned the title of Best New Roller Coaster of 2026. The highly anticipated ride commenced public operations on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. During media previews, the coaster was described as unpredictable and exhilarating, offering a unique experience.
The multi-launch coaster reaches speeds of 72 mph and navigates four inversions along its track. A standout feature is the 360-degree rotating vehicles that "drift," mimicking the muscle cars from the film franchise. This innovative design combines movie-style stunts with thrilling coaster elements.
While technical rehearsals began in July 2026 and passholder previews in August, the official opening was delayed. Universal installed additional sound barriers to mitigate noise concerns from Toluca Lake residents. Despite these delays, the coaster was evaluated against 168 new roller coasters globally, solidifying its top ranking for 2026.
