Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations at Bengaluru's Adarsh Palm Retreat transcended a simple flag-hoisting, erupting into a vivid display of Karnataka's rich folk heritage. Over 100 folk artists, hailing from diverse districts like Ramanagara and Dakshina Kannada, converged to share their traditions.
The apartment complex witnessed a colorful procession featuring towering Chilipili Gombe puppets and energetic Mangaluru Hulivesha dancers. Performances like Sattige Kunitha and Puravanthike offered residents an immersive cultural experience.
A significant highlight was an all-women Mahila Veeragase troupe from Chikkamagaluru, a Shaivite warrior dance form, challenging traditional gender roles. Organizers emphasized introducing children to these struggling art forms, preserving oral histories.
This initiative, supported by Janapada Siri CSR, aimed to provide rural practitioners a platform and instill cultural pride in the younger generation, ensuring the viability of indigenous folk traditions.
