Bengal Files Gets Green Light After BJP Win

The controversial film 'The Bengal Files' is slated for release in West Bengal on May 15, 2026. This release follows the Bharatiya Janata Party's significant victory in the recent state elections, which appears to have paved the way for the film's distribution in the region. Previously, the film, directed by Vivek Agnihotri, had a nationwide release on September 5, 2025, but was notably absent from West Bengal cinemas.

Namashi Chakraborty, who stars in the film, shared his emotional journey regarding the release. He recounted facing resistance during the film's promotional activities in August 2025, where the team was reportedly denied permission to screen the trailer and "almost shooed out of the event." Chakraborty hopes that 'The Bengal Files' will be watched by everyone in West Bengal, emphasizing that truth transcends religion.

In addition to 'The Bengal Files,' Chakraborty's film 'Aakhri Sawal' will also be released nationwide on the same date, May 15, 2026. 'Aakhri Sawal' features Sanjay Dutt, Amit Sadh, and Neetu Chandra. During promotions for 'Aakhri Sawal,' Sadh shared an anecdote about Chakraborty's intense performance opposite Dutt, noting Chakraborty's immediate nervousness after the scene concluded.
