Acclaimed Actor Reflects on Cutting Daughter from Film: A Lesson in Parenting

In a recent interview, acclaimed actor Ben Stiller, now 59 years old, has opened up about his regret over cutting his daughter Ella, then just 8 years old, from his 2013 film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Stiller admits this was "a huge mistake" that "just damaged our relationship for so many years."

The Zoolander star, who shares Ella and son Quin, 20, with wife Christine Taylor, has learned from this experience. He now realizes the importance of including his children in projects, even if their roles may not fit perfectly. Ella has since appeared alongside her father in 2014's Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and the recent Happy Gilmore 2.

Stiller's son Quin has also provided insight, noting that his father's dedication to his work sometimes came at the expense of quality family time. This has led Stiller to reflect on balancing his successful Hollywood career with his role as a father.

Despite the initial strain, Ella no longer harbors any hard feelings toward her dad, understanding that she was "really scared" of acting as a child. Stiller's openness about this personal experience has shown his growth as both an artist and a parent.
