Beloved Soap Star Killed Off in Shocking Car Crash

In a shocking turn of events, the popular soap opera Beyond the Gates has bid farewell to one of its original cast members. On Thursday, the show killed off the character of Doug McBride, played by actor Jason Graham, in a tragic car accident.

Doug, who had been married to the character Vanessa, portrayed by Lauren Buglioli, since the show's debut in February 2025, met his untimely demise last week. Buglioli took to social media to pay tribute to her on-screen husband, writing, "I love you, husband."

The loss of Doug McBride is sure to have a significant impact on the show's storylines and its dedicated fanbase. Beyond the Gates, a CBS Studios/NAACP Venture production, has been experiencing a surge in popularity, with a 67% increase in multiplatform viewership since its premiere earlier this year. The series, created and executive produced by Michele Val Jean, has also been outperforming ABC's General Hospital by 7% among women aged 25-54 on broadcast television.

As the soap opera heads into its second season, fans are left to wonder how the show will move forward without one of its core characters. The series, led by executive producer Sheila Ducksworth, continues to captivate audiences with its compelling narratives and talented ensemble cast.
